December 2013 - Jessica Blackmore, Australian International Junior Dressage Rider

Claire has been working with my 2 UK based horses for about six months.

Romeo who competes PSG/I1 has struggled with stiffness, but since Claire's treatments he is significantly more supple and able to work through his body, and as a result his attitude to work has improved. We've had excellent competition results and improved scores as his overall way of going is so much better.

My other horse Tout is recovering from a suspensory injury and we wanted to make sure he was in good shape before he started trotting again. Immediately after his treatment he was more free in the shoulders and wanting to stretch his neck forward.

I'm extremely lucky to have Claire come every six weeks to take care of my horses. The horses love their massages and just seem happier and more relaxed in themselves. Our policy is "prevention is better than cure" and Claire is an integral part of the brilliant team of professionals we are fortunate enough to have helping us provide the best care we can for our horses. We wouldn't be without her!

Owner: John Odell - Horse: Ikorodu Road
Discipline: Racehorse - Racehorse: Successful Chaser

Ikorodu Road had major back surgery for a kissing spines in December 2009 at Peasebrook Equine Clinic. Tim Galer MRCVS performed the DSP Surgery, he is a remarkable & talented veterinary surgeon & has in incredible success rate & surgical reputation. As part of the horses recovery and rehabilitation Claire Galer provided a valuable rehabilitation programme, with the inclusion of Equine Sports Massage with progress assessments. The horse successfully returned to racing in June 2010. At the time he had a rating of 122 and by the end of the 2010/11 season had improved to 135. His ratings stand today at 141 in the run up to The Scottish Grand National. Following two very successful outings at Doncaster in early March & Newbury mid end March, whereby Ikorodu produced two very impressive 1st. Claire continues to apply her ESMT work to Ikorodu, she has been working with him prior to his opp, throughout his rehabilitation & then during his return to racing & ongoing training with Matt Sheppard. The work Claire applies is a very useful addition to taking the stress out of a horses muscles and improving his well being. She is able to provide valuable information on the horse’s condition to connections with the horse.

Scottish National Target for Grimthorpe Winner Ikorodu Road - 14/3/2012

Ikorodu RoadMatt Sheppard sent out one of the biggest winners of his training career when his Ikorodu Road just held on from leading John Smith's Grand National candidate Junior in a dramatic renewal of the Grimthorpe Chase at Doncaster on March 3 and could well be allowed to take his chance in the Scottish Grand National at Ayr at the end of April, writes Elliot Slater.Runner-up on his previous two outings at Doncaster and Newbury, Ikorodu Road had attracted the handicapper's interest and been raised a total of 7lbs for those defeats, but in a quality contest at Town Moor he was still able to race off bottom weight of 10 stone, which included a pound overweight from his jockey Charlie Poste. Never far from the pace in a contest run at a strong gallop, Sheppard's nine-year-old was driven along in pursuit of the clear leader Pentiffic who appeared to have the race in his pocket when 15-lengths clear going down to the second from home. Those who had placed an online horse racing bet will have thought things were in the bag.

Pentiffic however began to tire going down to the last and both Ikorodu Road and Junior had closed to within two-lengths when the fading front-runner took a crashing fall and hampered Junior in the process. Seizing his chance Poste drove his charge ahead, but Junior rallied strongly and as they flashed past the post it was difficult to judge who had prevailed. The photo-finish print showed that the bottom weight had prevailed by a short-head from last season's runaway Cheltenham Festival winner who ran a tremendous race in defeat conceding 22lbs.

Sheppard suggested that a further rise in his handicap rating as a result of winning the valuable Grimthorpe Chase could well prompt him to run his Ikorodu Road in the Scottish Grand National, the extra mile of which he believes will ideally suit his dour stayer.

Owner: Jane Santrenno - Horse: Greyscope Rodrego
Discipline: High School Dressage

Greyscope RodregoI have worked with Claire Galer for a number of years now & find her most helpful, extremely skilful & highly professional. I have ridden Dressage Horses all my life & have spent a great deal of time in both Vienna & in Spain at The Royal School of Equestrian Art. The work these horses are asked to do, can put them under great strain. I ride with the Classical School of thought & to have a therapist at hand, who will work with me, understand my horses & work towards achieving supple, successful happy horses is fantastic. Claire is a superb palpative assessor of soft tissue, she has an incredible attention to detail & is such a happy enthusiastic individual. We would be lost without her & I would not hesitating in recommending her. If you are seeking a professional therapist, who’s passion to make a difference combined with an exceptional therapeutic talent Claire Galer is lady you need to call!

Angela Miles Event Rider 5 x Horses

With regard to my horses, Claire is my early warning system. As well as a valued member of my “Professional Equine Medical Cavalry” who treat established problems. The moment I feel a muscle tightness, Claire is called to pinpoint & relieve the problem area. This, together with monitoring & massaging the area myself at home after treatment, is a fantastic method of preventing big issues arising or diagnosing at the earliest point, a problem that needs veterinary treatment.

Rachael Parrfetts Event Rider

Following on from a traumatic incident whilst my Advanced horse was out at pasture & subsequent vet work. Followed by four months box rest. I was referred to Claire Galer ESMT & Equine Nutritionist to assist & guide in the rehabilitation program. From the first meeting & Claire’s thorough assessment of the horse, I was taken away by her professionalism, method of work & subsequent treatment & rehabilitation of this horse. She is clearly very well qualified, has an in-depth knowledge of equine anatomy, physiology, nutrition & rehabilitation. Claire has now worked closely with us for coming up 12 months & we are now delighted to be returning to competitive success. I have since recommended Claire to many Equine friends & clients, who I know now could not do without her. Claire’s involvement with Premier league performance, World Class performance & Equine Academy Graduates, gives her such a wide breadth of knowledge that she is a pleasure to work with & we are so lucky for her support. Thank you so much Claire.

Chris Starkie - Father - Georgie Starkie - Pablo - European Team Dressage Pony

Pablo treated by Claire is a European Team Dressaage PonyTeam Pony at European Champs 2009, 1st Reserve 2008. Represented Gt. Britain 4 times this year (2 top 10 places at Moorsele CDIP)

A big Thank You for your extremely professional treatment of Pablo. There is absolutely no doubt that your excellent work has contributed greatly to his selection for the Europeans & for his improved & steadier performances during the past few years. Our very best wishes to you & once again, very very many thanks. Kindest regards Chris, Angela & Georgie.

Samantha Hughes - Issy

Claire has been treating my 7 year old mare “Izzy” for the last 6 months & previous to that 2 years ago. The recent treatments have been as a result of us having problems with Show Jumping. Having met with Claire & discussed Izzy, she established that she was very tight across her shoulders & back. Izzy as always accepted Claire’s treatments straight away & regularly relaxes so much so that she appears to fall asleep each session! Claire is fantastic at what she does & Izzy & I are now yet again, reaping the benefits. I would not hesitate in recommending Claire she is an excellent therapist, a sort hard to find.

Julia Plumb - Alfie

Claire started treating Alfie this summer; he had problems with his shoulders & back, which had led to intermittent lameness & loss of muscle quality. Claire’s treatments have been vital in improving Alfie’s body condition. He is now a much more relaxed & supple horse. The intermittent lameness has gone, his muscle tone is improved. He can now work correctly & is building up good quality muscle. This in turn has helped his fitness & his results. Claire has exceptional knowledge, which she shares with her clients & I would act on her advice every time. She provides invaluable support to both horse & rider. I would certainly recommend her as an equine therapist & thank her greatly for all of her work & support.

Heather Llewellyn - Hamish

A friend recommended Claire to me & although I was not aware of any real problems, I felt that as Hamish is easily stressed Claire might be able to relax him. After the first treatment I took him for a gentle walk & nearly asked Claire to return & undo what she had done!! Hamish felt so free, his stride length had increased & was enormous, he was so lose & supple I had a job to hold him together!! Hamish enjoys his treatments so much & since then he has come on leaps & bounds, literally!!!! I am now having Claire treat my back & am looking forward to the same fantastic results. As a therapist I cannot recommend Claire enough; she is professional, ethical, sensitive & over & above all an exceptionally effective therapist.

Sophie Kempshall - Donnie Darco

After my horse slipped in the stable with a hind leg; he showed a great deal of pain & my vet diagnosed he had strained his Psoas group of muscles. The vet had recommended Claire in order to relax & treat the muscles & restore correct muscle function after a period of box rest. He proceeded to require intra-articular joint medication, through which Claire treated the area of concern as well as the whole body. He made an excellent recovery & soon returned to success on the Show Jumping circuit. Thank you Claire, for everything.

Sarah Dunell Yard Manager Peter Storrs

On a busy & very active yard like ours, the horses sometimes find it hard to relax. To my experience I have felt that after Claire has been, the horses she has treated are always more relaxed & tranquil. Which for me is very important! To have our horses as happy & calm as possible. Claire works regularly with us, she is professional, clear & concise in all that she does. Resulting in our Dressage horses feeling relaxed, supple & balanced.

Theresa Smyth Working Dressage Rider @ Peter Storrs

Claire has been treating Bernini for approximately 6 months now & the difference in his quality of work has been amazing. He used to start off quite tight in the back, however since Claire has been treating him he starts off much looser & happier through the back. Proof is in the results we have had recently; winning the Addington Novice Open

Regional with 71% & coming 3rd in the National Championships 2008 with 68%. I would use & recommend Claire with any horses I work with in the future & would like to say a huge THANK YOU for all your productive work.

FILLIEMOU - Racehorse

Owner: Kate Izamis

Just a few words in grateful appreciation from both myself and Filliemou for all the massages she has received. You have played a beneficial role in her pre-training programme and now in her training, keeping her fit healthy and happy. Thank you Claire and I know Fillimou will be eagerly awaiting her next massage.

Radar - Dressage Stallion

Owner: Emma Collins

"Claire has treated Radar for the past year. Before we started the massages Radar's muscle over his hind quarters was very uneven on each side. With regular massages this muscle imbalance has been corrected. On the odd occasion when there is a slight uncharacteristic change in gait, the problem was swiftly corrected. His overall suppleness and well being have improved dramatically since starting the treatment, and the massages have been a vital factor in his improved competitive results. Radar always works more freely & over his back after Claire's treatment. This makes the lateral work for advanced dressage easier for him & helps the warm up. After his last treatment he won both his tests. Claire's work we find an invaluable support to our competitive career."

Murphy & Nobby

Owner: Becky Gibbs

"I have owned Murphy, my TB x Welsh, all his life. He is now eight years old and have always had his back checked regularly by a chiropractor. Having recently returned with him from the South of France, it was time to get his career well under way. I had had a few saddle fitting issues and noticed that he was reluctant to offer any bend. I decided to give Claire a ring as my 'human chiropractor' had suggested a deep muscle massage for myself after a course of chiropractic treatments. After a course of 3 full massages, Murphy has been a different horse. He is willing to work and is gradually gaining the physique of an athelete. My other horse, Nobby, who is now 18 and has been with me for 13 years has begun to feel the strains of a very competitive life. He is 15.1hh, of unknown breeding and a real workaholic! He competes in all disciplines, but recently the judges comments on his dressage scores prompted me to call Claire to give him some treatment. After all, I would like him to last another 13 years, and I would like to do some Veteran Horse classes with him this year. He has certainly benefitted from the treatment and his scores are creeping up again as he has become more supple. Both the horses enjoy Claire's gentle and soothing treatment and calmness with them. I also appreciate the indepth explanations that she gives during the treatment. Thank you for your help!"

Trickster - All-rounder/Dressage Horse

Owner Helen Ellis

"We bought Trickster as a 4year old last year, he was showing signs of stiffness in his stifle and through his back, he now has a massage once a month and we have seen vast improvement in his mobility, he now enjoys working so much more. I never thought I would be having a pony massaged, but have kept an open mind on it. We feel Claire has given us a lot of support and we have recommended her to many friends."

Landina

Owner - Charlotte Moss - Hartpury College Elite Dressage Squad

"I find my Dressage horse Landina much freer and loser after her Equine Sports Massage, and a marked improvement in her overall performance."

Royal Otto

Owner - Jill Hopkins

"Since Claire has been treating Otto and I it has been noticeable how much more relaxed and supple we are both feeling and how much better we are coping with the training. As we begin to increase the level of work we are doing, Otto is responding much better, both mentally and physically. He is only 6 and still growing into himself but with Claire's help he is maintaining a high level of fitness and suppleness and turning into a real 'happy athelete!"

Said - Dressage Gelding

Owner - Laetitia Van Der Wycks

"Because of his conformation, "Said" my 13 year old Anglo Arab Dressage Horse was very stiff in the poll, as well as in the lumbar region. This would make him uncomfortable, as well as quite spooky. Thanks to Claire's thorough, yet gentle manipulation. He has become much looser in the neck, the back and being happier in himself & has completely given up spooking!! I cannot be grateful enough to Claire for the tremendous progress in his overall performance!"

Dante

Alicia Laughton

"Claire has been treating my young dressage horse now for the past year & a half & has helped enormously in keeping him fit, supple & sound. I have NEVER seen a horse appreciate any form of manipulative treatment quite so much, it is quite remarkable! Claire's feedback is very important in order for me to understand where Dante may experience problems & I take this into account accordingly when working him. Claire is an exceptional therapist with a wide breadth of knowledge & ability, I would not hesitate in recommending her work to anyone seeking an equine or human sports therapist. I trust her implicitly with my equines."

Solaro

Sandra Stevens

"My horse was referred to Claire as a Nutritional Case following an episode of "Azotoria" by my Veterinary Surgeon. Claire working in her capacity as an Equine Nutritionist was very professional, helpful & friendly at the same time. She is obviously an extremely knowledgeable professional and this is coupled with enthusiasm in her specialist fields. Solaro responded favorably to her advice & treatment program given, in addition to putting on weight without any adverse reactions. She is also a little less "Marish" & less inclined to have a bite! Thank you Claire for your exceptional advice & help, wishing you all the best."
